December 30, 2020

From preschool to college, 2020 was a time for intermittent learning. During the switch from face-to-face tuition to almost all virtual classes in March last year, students and their families counted their losses to the end of the year: lost time with their teachers. Lost hours of personal learning. Missed opportunity to play and have fun with friends.

To capture the impact, EdSource tracked 16 families from across California and embarked on an ongoing year-long project. This documentary shows the educational struggles they faced and how some students have postponed their college careers so they can support their families when the pandemic takes their parents’ jobs.
